When working through what our conference would look like this year, it was clear that it needed to serve our members as well as the greater ask we were receiving from the wider community, supporting amazing mothers and women on their founder journey. With this in mind, we have focused our conference around the ethos of empowering you with actionable insights that allow you to work on your business in real time.
Our panels range from how to choose the right kind of funding for your business to how to stay sane and support your founder mental health. We have a deep dive panel discussion on what happens after you get through that initial phase of running your business and how things change for your business and for you, as a founder, as you scale. We will be running small, intimate workshops where you will get an opportunity to work with our experts on your business around things like marketing, negotiating, and setting up payments and your online shop.
All of our speakers were handpicked for their commitment to the support of women and women-led businesses. They have all shown themselves to be active in our community. Not one has been paid to speak or to attend this conference; they all have taken their own time and funds to support Be MPowered and what it stands for. We feel it’s important to call attention to this and recognise their contribution to our conference; it wouldn’t be what it is without their support.
Today, we will also be running our pitch competition showcasing 15 women-founded and run businesses. The winning pitch will be awarded $10,000 cash and significant media exposure in Kochie’s Business Builders, Startup Daily, Women’s Agenda, Babyology and Mums & Co.
As we know, a mere 2.2% of venture capital funds are awarded to women-led ventures ... let’s help change that!
In this lead up to the conference, we’re proud to have provided our female founders training on how to deliver a winning pitch, delivered by Marisa Warren from ELEVACAO. Marisa’s pitch training is globally known to be truly transformative for women and has helped many receive investments, win competitions, and successfully grow their businesses in not only Australia, but the US as well. Our event partner Founders for Founders, with their mentor network and knowledge of the challenges facing founders currently, have helped to produce our day, sharing in our mission, to support Mum business owners.
We hope you enjoy what will be a truly amazing day and we thank you for joining us in supporting amazing mothers and women on their founder journeys.

Puctto (“Pop-Up Clothes To Try On”) is a fashion-tech platform, featuring a Virtual Change Room and connected social network. Shoppers can upload a photo of themselves, “try on” clothes on a retailer’s online store, share photos of the finished look with friends on social media, and save these looks into an online closet. Puctto provides a personalised shopping experience, increasing sales conversions for online retailers.
Founder Belinda Scott created the idea after working as an Art Director with a women’s magazine. She has always been a big online shopper but wanted to see what SHE looked like in the outfits, rather than on the models. Belinda has built an amazing team around her, including CEO and Cofounder, Crystal McGregor; Founder of the Independent Fashion Advisory Board, Saskia Fairfull; and Ian Briggs, a technical lead with a passion for augmented reality.
Puctto is now available to use on any online retailer site with a simple cut and paste code. Zapdat was created when Mary Sidoti, an accountant and financial advisor, became frustrated with the time spent chasing clients for information. Finding that other industry colleagues shared this view, we estimated the unbillable hours spent on these tasks, and it was an unacceptable cost to our business.
We needed a smarter way to get the information we needed. Together with Joe Pien, Mary designed a flexible, automated system to solve the costly issue of data collection, and hired some brilliant engineers to build it.
The result is data tracking software that is so simple to use that businesses can set up the system in a day, and use our templates to start creating job workflows in minutes. Zapdat has also grown to include intuitive communication tools and secure document storage.
Zapdat is ideal for any professional services firm that engages with clients and needs to get data from them. We’re used by accountants, financial planners, lawyers and logistics firms.
Our passion at Zapdat is help professional service providers to simplify client engagement and communication by developing a platform that puts the client relationship first.

Pauly has dedicated his career to the pursuit of understanding what makes us tick — what drives our feelings, beliefs and values, and how our emotional experience in life impacts the actions we take, and the results we produce.
After founding and exiting two user-centred design and communication companies, he moved to San Francisco to help product teams, executives, and founders with their cultures of design. Since 2011, he has worked within startups, accelerators, and large corporations to lead and support efforts to be more effective with design, product sprints, and interpersonal leadership.
At first, problems appeared to be process issues but were quickly revealed to be cultural breakdowns and personality conflicts. Grinding challenges created and amplified by the emotional relationships between team members, leadership, and the task at hand.
Despite the talent, resources, access, and ability, well-funded workplaces were rife with people and teams suppressing their emotions to produce results, and suffering greatly in the process.
He coached professionals through addiction, breakdowns, compulsion, abuse, loneliness, denial and more as people tried to reconcile the DOING of their work, with their emotional experience while doing it.
In 2018, Pauly co-founded Bold&Resolute to help people transform their context in life through a different format – experiential, educational, and entertainment adventures. In 2019, they launched The Art of Business, an online program and workshop series designed to help leaders, founders and teams transform their culture through a guided practice of self-awareness, empathy, and conscious choice.

Monica Wulff is the host of the Digital Love Podcast and the co-founder and former CEO of Startup Muster which is Australia’s largest survey of the startup ecosystem.
As a startup founder, Monica understands how important technology is and the many ways in which society has benefited from an ever-evolving digital world, however she also recognises that very little is being done to help us manage our technology use, digital devices and social media addiction.
During the early stages of her first business, Monica personally experienced the negative effects of having a living and breathing a 24/7 digital connection. She quickly noticed she was overwhelmed, overstimulated and not getting anywhere fast. Without being mindful of her time spent online, and without a strategy that optimised her digital experience, things were taking a turn for the worse.
That’s when Monica decided it was time to make a change. Since then, her personal goal has been extended to helping others reclaim their lives and using their tech-connections for good.
‘Intentional technology’ as Monica likes to call it is all about applying tech management strategies to our digital world – helping us connect with purpose, disconnect without FOMO and engage in meaningful ways online.
She is also a leading expert of the Australian startup ecosystem, an international speaker and was nominated for the ‘Female Founder of the Year’ award at Startcon in 2018.
Millie Zinner is an award-winning entrepreneur, winning Australasian Startup Founder of the Year at StartCon. She is the co-founder of Motherhood; the marketplace to book-on-demand childcare from Mums and Minders in your community. Motherhood was a part of Startmate's Alumni and they successfully closed an equity crowdfunding campaign earlier this year.
Millie is extremely passionate about making a difference and rebuilding the village, so parents have the support they need to thrive. Millie has worked in the childcare space for almost 20 years and believes we all have what it takes to disrupt an industry and create positive change.
Matt is the Venture Capital BDM for AWS in Australia. He is also an early stage investor along with his wife, Aprill. Together they have a portfolio of 16 startups. Additionally, Matt is a partner at Startmate and founder coach.

Andrea launched one of the first free email services in Australia in 2000, created the largest student jobs board in Australia, launched nationally distributed publishing companies, and created the first nationally operated distribution and logistics business with exclusivity in tertiary education centres. She’s had a diverse background with creating, building and scaling 7 businesses across 2 countries (Australia & Canada).
Whilst the highs of exiting 2 businesses, winning the NSW Telstra young businesswoman of the year, the NSW Telstra Small Business of the year, the BRW Fast 100 list and numerous others were rewarding, Andrea’s entrepreneurial career also brought the considerable lows that come with the risk of starting your own business.
In 2014, Andrea took 2 years to travel the world and rediscover what she is passionate about. During this time, she worked with meditation specialists in Vietnam, hung out in Ashrams in India and Cambodia, pivoted a business in Bangalore, started a whisky in LA and sang in bars in Nashville and New Orleans, and of course did the obligatory trip to Burning Man.
Through this Andrea realised her true passion for working with fast growth scaling businesses to expedite success and limit the risk of failure.
